It's hard to accept criticism on this one because Players simply don't know what is technically possible.
So many ideas sound great when typed on a forum; 'realistic looking effects' is the main one. The truth is, the more realistic you make the effects the less visible they will be from a distance. The more frames you add to an animation, the more expensive it becomes. The more particles you use, the more you sacrifice elsewhere.
A lot of the stuff in Shallow Space hasn't just been included because it looks nice, there's often 2 or 3 reasons why it is the way it is and that perspective is granted by the years we've spent researching it.
So when it comes to feedback on the games mechanics we're all ears, but 'I don't really like the look of X or Y' is subjective and if we slammed on the brakes everytime we received subjective criticism the project would go nowhere.
By all means discuss it, but just letting you know my position on this in the interests of transparency.
