I had looked at that option and it was turned on but it wasnt working ingame so i assumed it was bugged. I just actually toggled it off and back on and now its working properly.
Thanks for the tips on this, not sure what was happening last night but the view seemed to have gotten stuck in focus mode and panning around with WASD wasnt breaking it away so i was just orbiting the ships. Its working fine today though, i didnt realize you could change elevation outside of Q and E so that helps as well.
This was where honestly i was missing the boat....when the tooltip pops up on hitting RMB for move it had listed shift-lmb for waypoint and also draggin LMB for elevation but i couldnt see that working so i was using shift-lmb. Predictably since it was for waypoints i was having to LMB twice to confirm a 2 waypoint move order. Blah blah blah...long story short your system works great with the exception of there still being abit of spatial location issues for far out. I still have to move the camera around to several angles to compare my move order to where the asteroid field is located and even with grid turned on there is no depth markers to follow if that makes sense...
I added the red line to show what i am talking about as a reference point....
Thanks so much for the help on this, its an elegant solution for camera and movement once you get the hang of it, being able to blend actually holding down RMB and MMB and also pushing in and out with mouse.
Definitely a somewhat different control scheme to what i am used to with other space RTS games but honestly i remember Homeworld taking a minute to get the hang of and it doesnt offer the same amount of freedom as yours.
Thanks guys, this has made the game 10X more fun for me now that i have the controls worked out and the linkage was really helpfull as well.
On a side note guys, i ran across an old post where you stated not being about the money and i appreciate that but i view this game as an absolute steal at the price point. I actually went back to your website to look at upgrading my pledge to more then the base $15 some odd because i could see this as being amazing when finished. The thing that held me back was the only thing you had listed as rewards for a higher pledge was more names reserved. I would pay double or triple, hell i just bought the lifetime pass at $99 for ashes of the singularity because that game looks so damn cool and it gets me 3 expansions and tons of dlc. If you can come up with content incentives i would drop another 20-30 bucks on this game to get in on more expansions etc. Just a thought
