It is a little soupy, though not horribly so. Toning it down by 25% may help make it feel less soupy but not too abrupt.
My DPI is set to 1400 x&y and I'm currently getting about 35 fps
First I select the group using the group key. (1 in this case).
Then I RMB inside the safe zone jump box.
I keep the camera focused in the zone they're currently in and watch the ships jump.
Once the ships jump out of the current sector I click the map button to bring it up and switch to the new sector and that's when I get that error.
I got this one below while alt-tabbing to compose this reply. I had my camera focused in a friendly occupied sector and clicked the map button just as my fleet was jumping from a different sector into the one my camera was previously focused.

I've also noticed that battle music doesn't seem to queue properly. During combat it will switch back and forth between idle music and combat while moving the camera around the sector. Once the battle is over the battle music will continue for a time. I wonder if it's tied to the wrecks which were still present despite no living enemies being present in the sector.
I haven't seen any ships vanishing during jumps, though I have seen some textures flicker from max zoom out after a short-range jump (in sector). Zooming in then back out removes it.
